After this Election

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭20:7‬ ‭

We are merely days away, emotions are high and tensions are thick as the 2020 Presidential election draws near. It is the time we must decide who will lead the United States for the next four years. Many are anxious. Who will win? And what will that mean for our country, for our individual lives and freedoms?

This year, more than others, the political race seems to have polarized our country. Sadly, people even risk losing friendships based on the way they might choose to cast their vote.

What will our nation look like after this election? No matter who wins, many citizens will be happy, other will be sad, perhaps angry, maybe even fearful.

But the things of this earth, even rulers, governments, and kingdoms, are temporary. In the midst of uncertainty, there is truth that remains constant and eternal. We can be confident that some things will never change, even after the votes are cast and the decision is made.

In the midst of all the political noise, I have been reflecting on three truths that will stand firm and secure even after this election.

1. God will still be King, the sovereign ruler of heaven and earth.

“God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭47:8‬ ‭

“The LORD has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭103:19‬ ‭

2. The Bible will still be true and sufficient.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
‭‭II Timothy‬ ‭3:16-17‬ ‭

“The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:160‬ ‭

3. JESUS will still be our only hope, the only way to salvation.

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:6‬ ‭

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭

The election this year is of great importance in the minds of many people. But what matters so much more than who you choose on the ballot, is who you choose to trust with your heart and your soul.

The most important decision of my life, the only vote I will ever make, that matters to my soul for all eternity, is whether I chose to make Jesus Christ the Lord and Savior of my life.

Worldly leaders will come and go. Policies and laws will change. But the Word of God will stand true. The Lord will remain on His throne. Jesus will forever be our hope of salvation; the way, the truth, and the life. He is the only true and righteous one.

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:37-39‬ ‭

Therefore, we can have hope. We can rest assured. No matter who wins and who loses on November 3rd, the real victory is a life hidden in Christ for all eternity. In Him, we have citizenship in heaven. We have freedom that can never be taken away. We stand secure today, tomorrow, and long after this election.
